So, Luceti. Are there any places in our little terrarium that you'd consider a good vacation spot? I'm thinking of taking off for half of February.

It's snowing lightly today, but it won't stop Nami's usual rounds: orchard, battledome, restaurant, bar. ...okay, that's not entirely her usual rounds. But she's looking for someone. Or several someones. So today consists of people-watching in the hope she'll see one of them. She'll stop and be sociable with just about anyone, however.]

Good point. [She makes a face as she opens the door to the restaurant.] I'm wondering if they'll hit us with an experiment before Valentines actually becomes an issue.

It's happened before. [Valentine's is a month away, and all, and she's seen enough of them to know. She carefully steps inside, thankful for the warmth of the building.] Most people get caught up of worrying over it prematurely, and then get blindsided when something else happens instead.

Ahh, well. I intend to treat life as business as usual and then just vanish without my journal for a few weeks of February. I might get lucky, I might not.

You wouldn't be the first to try that. You also have to keep in mind that last time around there was a twist in place that made us... forget the particular implications of opening our journals on that date.

Yeah, I remember. That's why I'm thinking of just throwing my journal away at the beginning of February.

I'm not certain how much that will help either, but... I suppose you do what you can, after all. [The restaurant is nice and warm at least, and she follows her to a table.]

The attempt managed to work for me at least one year. [She's not really speaking out against trying; she had done much the same, after all who really wanted to deal with that experiment? Besides newcomers who really didn't understand what ripples it could cause. Throwing it away completely seemed rather rash though, because it was such a valuable communication tool. They had grown so reliant on things like that.

She sits down as well.]

[If the journals didn't eventually find their way back, she wouldn't risk it. But. More important things. Nami frowns.]

No. I've never even met the guy. But he's... talking with Sayo. She says he's a friend.

He had been living with her, since Sayo... insisted that she wanted to assist him with his... difficulties. He's recently left her care after his sister returned to the enclosure.

Hmm. Well, that puts a different spin on things. There's alarm that he moved in with her. Then moved out, so... and Raine was okay with this.

...I see. I was worried, because I know you warned against him.

[Raine was never okay with it. Unfortunately she was unable to have any real influence in the matter.

She does note Nami's surprise, however. Perhaps she hadn't had known? Which made her wonder what had brought it on in the first place-- but if she had witnessed him having exchanges with Sayo, perhaps that made some sense.]

... I have. Those warnings haven't changed.

...can I ask a little more about him? I know he's bad news, I just don't know why.

Why is he bad news? [The most important point.] Is Sayo in danger?

... yes and no. Yes, only as much as anyone else would be. Mithos currently has a penalty on him that hinders his physical movement. ... The fact that he allowed her, a human, to take care of him at a time he was vulnerable means that he may not perceive her completely as an enemy for now. I monitored the situation as best as I could, in any case...

However, his hatred for the human race has been entrenched for ... many, many years. The idea that Luceti could be any different from our world is still something he has difficulty grasping. He usually won't outright attack a person unless something has provoked his anger somehow. Which ... isn't that difficult to do.

[The news doesn't fill her with a great deal of confidence. Nami's frown only grows deeper as she considers it. Maybe it's okay; maybe Sayo's unique way of looking at the world means she's somehow exempt from his hate -- or maybe he just saw one person who would treat him with kindness and took advantage of it when he was vulnerable.

The only other person she knew who had a deep hatred for all humankind was Yuber.]

He has considerable skill with magic and with swordfighting, but he can and has been subdued by others here before.

Before he was brought to Luceti, he was a lot more powerful. Circumstances don't allow him to be as such here... unless he's drafted.

[Mnnngh. Nami isn't sure what to do. Though at least Mithos hasn't drawn attention to himself the way Yuber and others have, so she can hopefully assume he isn't going to throw that hatred around.]

...why does he hate us?

He suffered from being prejudiced against for many years, and then watched his sister die at a critical moment. From there, his hatred grew.

Ahh.

...so really, he has good reason.

Reasons for his feelings, yes. His actions... not so much. He feels justified in them... in everything that he has done, and striven for, for the sake of reviving his sister. He places all humans into that same category... he judges them harshly because he expects to be judged in return, despite being from different worlds and having different experiences.

I am hoping that his experience with Sayo is helping him learn... but should he act out against anyone in the village again, we'll just find a way to put him back in the tunnels, that's all.
