[Nami gets home from her mission late evening on the 2nd and knows pretty must straight away that something is off. Having been gone nearly two weeks, running into Sanji the way she does puts a bad taste in her mouth. She was looking forward to seeing them.

Once Sanji leaves with his spooky darkness powers, she strides through the house in search of other nakama who are awake in search of answers. Don't worry, if nobody's awake she'll just shake someone awake. 8Db Maybe all of you!

...and that shows her quite plainly that the experiment going on isn't just affecting her chef.

FML.

In a temper the next morning, she heads through town, meets some very off-kilter people she knows, and at least thanks the powers that be that she's unaffected this time. It doesn't improve her mood any, so she heads for the battledome to try and work out some stress and try (yet again) to see if she can locate the way down to Catherine's lab.

Okay, yes. That was kind of easy. TOO BAD ABOUT THE MESS.]

[Irritated Voice]

Does someone want to explain to me what the hell happened in the battledome? If any of you are still sane, that is. [She flops down in the wreckage of Catherine's lab and pans the video across the rubble. Doesn't seem much need for secrecy. This has to have been noticed by now, right?] And if anyone is still sane, please tell me what the hell is going on today?

...preferably over alcohol.

[She'll vent her temper on killing a bunch of pirates at the battledome, drop by the battledome clinic on the way out, then swing past Raine's with a handful of papers in hand. And finally, she hits the bar to drink in moody silence.

Unless of course anyone wants to keep her company, because that'd be kind of cool. Worst homecoming ever. >E]

Yup. I'm normal, if you're wondering. [Chuckles. He feels kind of nostalgic. You know. Watching the oddities that seem to be going down safely via journal.]

I'm guessing. I mean, I haven't been by in the last little bit, but the last time I went there wasn't...that.

Ah, but how do you know you're normal? [Teasing, just a little. But then her smile fades.] Looks like I miss all the fun stuff. For a given definition of 'fun'.

It might be only wishful thinking... [A sigh, theatric, and his tone is faintly joking as he goes on,] You and me both. The experiment, and this... Where am I supposed to get my fun now?

[He pauses, and his tone seems to sober:] If you find out what's after happening there, will you lemme know?

Will do. I'll have a poke around.

[He smiles.] Pretty well, yeah. I think I'm after remembering everything I'm gonna, now.

Remembered everything, huh? [Her eyebrow lifts, but she's not quite intrusive enough to ask outright if he's talked to Richard yet.]

Yeah. [His tone of voice seems to get more rueful, for a moment.]

[Give her a second while she filters this.]

Everything okay?

[Oh-- Thanks, Nami.]

Yeah. I mean... Mostly, it is. [orz. As usual, he's going through the conflicting emotions of wanting to talk about it and not wanting to talk about it.]

[Oho, she knows that dilemma well.]

...I imagine certain things are a little complicated.

Yeah. [He sighs.] I really don't what to do, Nami. I, uh.

[Right. You need to explain the situation, Naoki.] I'm not sure how to talk to a couple of people.

...yeah, I can kinda guess who at least one of them is. [Not so sure about the other. Isamu...? Sadly she's not privy to all the drama that went down between the three of them way back when.] Give it time? Sometimes a whole lot of space can put some perspective on things.

[He smiles faintly; he figured she could've guessed. Even if he hadn't said. But then, he hadn't talked about it much. He reflects idly that Mikage had heard the most of it at the time, but he never did tell him how the talking thing went after the fact. orz.]

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. I've been...keeping my distance, the last little while.

Yeah. Thanks, Nami, I appreciate it. [A woosh of breath, like a sound of relief, then he asks,] How are you doing?

Aheh. Well, this was a heck of a thing to come back to. Have you run into Sanji-kun today? He's a little...different.

I haven't. I was talking to Xion, though...she was calling him Jixsan.

[She was, huh. Well...given what she's learned today so far...]

I'm guessing he thinks he comes from her world, then. They can teleport around town the same way, that's for sure.

Is that what it is this time...? [Naoki's frowning.] Making people think they come from other people's worlds?

I think so. It's hard to say-- but a friend of mine has a new 'guard' that she claims has been here all along, and Luffy thinks he's a ninja now. And there was some kind of world-visiting stuff going on just beforehand, by the sounds of things.

... [Naoki feels an abrupt sense of relief that no-one thinks they're from his world when they actually aren't. Mainly because, well...nobody else should have to have thought they lived through what'd happened.

Thoughtfully,] That-- The village seemed like it was practically empty, for a day. Then people started acting odd. It's kinda timed too well to be a coincidence, huh?

Yeah, I'd say so. Given such a wide scale effect, it's weird that everyone disappeared first-- they usually don't have to take villagers out of the enclosure to mess with them like that. [It's an anomaly.] Unless they actually did go home.

Think...that they did? [He'd done some snooping around the journals and past entries when he'd heard people talking about it, but.]

If they did, I think we can know for sure that the Malnosso have always been lying when they say they can't send us home.

And if that's so, they're probably hiding the way how somewhere. [Then again, take everything the Malnosso say with a grain of salt. Naoki's never been sure how to regard them.]
