[Nami gets home from her mission late evening on the 2nd and knows pretty must straight away that something is off. Having been gone nearly two weeks, running into Sanji the way she does puts a bad taste in her mouth.  She was looking forward to seeing them.

Once Sanji leaves with his spooky darkness powers, she strides through the house in search of other nakama who are awake in search of answers.  Don't worry, if nobody's awake she'll just shake someone awake. 8Db  Maybe all of you!

...and that shows her quite plainly that the experiment going on isn't just affecting her chef.

FML.

In a temper the next morning, she heads through town, meets some very off-kilter people she knows, and at least thanks the powers that be that she's unaffected this time.  It doesn't improve her mood any, so she heads for the battledome to try and work out some stress and try (yet again) to see if she can locate the way down to Catherine's lab.




Okay, yes.  That was kind of easy.  TOO BAD ABOUT THE MESS.]

[Irritated Voice]

Does someone want to explain to me what the hell happened in the battledome?  If any of you are still sane, that is.  [She flops down in the wreckage of Catherine's lab and pans the video across the rubble.  Doesn't seem much need for secrecy.  This has to have been noticed by now, right?]   And if anyone is still sane, please tell me what the hell is going on today? 

...preferably over alcohol.

[She'll vent her temper on killing a bunch of pirates at the battledome, drop by the battledome clinic on the way out, then swing past Raine's with a handful of papers in hand.  And finally, she hits the bar to drink in moody silence.

Unless of course anyone wants to keep her company, because that'd be kind of cool.  Worst homecoming ever. >E]

...I got jumped. But that wasn't the main thing that happened. I'll get to it later.

[He shakes his head.]

...Seems the Malnosso weren't too happy about "Catherine" being in the village. They sent a strike team into his hidden base under the Battle Dome. Apparently he had one there. They injured him severely and left him for dead, and the healers can't use magic on him for some reason. He'll live, but he's going to be down for a long time.

...Probably did him this way so he'd be out of commission longer than a week.

[You got jumped? That's impressive, and Nami frowns and wonders whether that means there's someone nasty in town or there's...something different about Adell. But then he continues, and that's suddenly very interesting.]

That's weird. You'd think if they wanted him out of commission they'd just take him with them. Or kill him.

[Suspicious.]

...think it's tied to this weirdness going on in town?

Killing him wouldn't hold him for long. A week, until he comes back. I don't know why they left him here. Maybe they figured leaving him to us was a worse fate than anything they could do to him.

[He pauses, and adds an afterthought.]

...if some people had their way, that'd be true.

[He shakes his head.]

And I don't know. He said that there'd be a voluntary experiment to test some kind of dimensional anchor? Allowing people to anchor into different worlds, or something. I don't know how it works, it's way too complicated for me to understand. But he was supposed to be running it...

If the Malnosso did this to him, killing him would put him into their hands. But you're right. There are more than a few people who have cause to hate his guts around here.

[She's one of them. She's just...not inclined to go around murdering unconscious old men.]

I heard a little about this world visiting thing. [Her eyes narrow. She still doesn't like the sound of it. But Adell does bring up a good point.] It's possible. The way they ruined his lab and took all his stuff, I've gotta say they either wanted it for themselves or just wanted to put a stop to what he was doing. It's like taking away a guy's toys.

People think they're all from different worlds now, don't they?

[Adell's eyebrow twitches.]

...After they all went missing for a day. The same amount of time he said they'd be gone. And that must be a side effect from it.

...Someone used it who didn't know what the hell they were doing.

Or it was already in use and it got messed with when they broke into the lab. Either way, there doesn't seem much we can do about it. [She's thoughtful on that score, though. This is temporary, right?]
