So I'm curious. How bizarre did some of your reminder cards get? Did anyone not take them all at face value?

[She has valid reasons to ask, trust me. Selfish Nami-is-pissy reasons, mind, but that's what happens after you've spent a week with a scattered crew and a comatose chef and a mallynapped swordsman and find yourself playing babysitter to a bunch of people who really ought to know better, not looking at you, Perona. Also there's an anniversary coming up she really wished she hadn't still been around to see.

[Aside from these possibly redundant plottin shenanigans, Nami will be in her usual haunts: the mikan orchard in the afternoon and Good Spirits in the evening. Though around noon she's gonna drop in to Seventh Heaven (or if it's still closed, wherever Sanji is) to check on him. Just to make sure things are, y'know, okay now. Because mad cooking sprees are kind of a cause for alarm. Moreso than Sleeping Beauty syndrome. Back atcha, chef.

I've run into my fair share of Princesses over the years.

You could say she's something straight out of a fairytale too.

A lon-- some time ago, I was working undercover at her castle. Her cousin, the Baron of Cagliostro was waiting until her sixteenth birthday so he could marry her and unite the royalty -- only then would he be able to uncover the treasure that was locked away.

Clarisse was one of my charges. She was practically raised by nuns until then, so he wanted someone a little more worldly to watch over her.

It's not an unusual arrangement for me.

[Nami really didn't care much about that tale except for a couple of key words that may have derailed her entire rant about this experiment.] Did the Baron manage to uncover her treasure?

Yes. But it wasn't what he expected. He uncovered ancient Roman Ruins, and in the process flooded his own castle and counterfeiting operations.

[She can only laugh because she got away with the counterfeiting plates.]

Aw, poor man. [Such lack of sympathy for him.] I bet Raine would have loved seeing those.

Oh yes, terrible really. Not as terrible as how he blew up his own autogyro trying to shoot me and Lupin down, but such is life. [She might be acting calm about it now, but she REALLY wanted that autogyro. It's a beautiful machine and as expensive as they come.]

Raine? Who's that? An archaeologist?

You've never met Raine? She runs the school, and she wrote the Welcome Guide in your journals. I'm not sure if she's an archaeologist or not, but she definitely loves ruins.

Well, my world has tons of ruins everywhere. And treasure in almost all of them. So I've doubt she'd get a big kick out of it. If she could get to them first that is~

Haha, I don't think she much cares for the treasure side of thing. She'd love to explore them, though.

Really, what does she like from ruins then?

I'd assume the history side of things. Not really my thing, though. [Yep. Though she's learned to respect it because she has Robin on her crew and she's seen firsthand how much you can learn from things like that.]

[Ah the "advantages" to a world where archaeological history actually informs on modern politics. While there are certainly government cover-ups of war crimes, it's not the kind of thing Fujiko bothers digging it up. It wouldn't do anything except make her more of a target if she did anyway.]

You can get more about history from books in my world though. I guess going to the places in person is more authentic, like the difference between reading travel books and actually going there, but even then, it's not like you're really going back in time. [Shrugs. Whatever. History nerds are like all other nerds in her book, just exchanging one specific kink for another.]

I'll stick with something where the rewards are more tangible~

You found El Dorado too?!

Not quite... ours wasn't actually made out of gold. And it wasn't called that. [But Nami knows the myth of El Dorado by now. She's been reading.] The city itself was just stone, but the gold we pulled out of the place was worth over 300 million beri.

Ours neither. Just plated. But every rooftop was covered in tiles of gold! I could only get away with a couple though. The whole thing was set to fall apart and Lupin wouldn't let me get more. [Not that she shared the ones she got out with either....]

If you met and remember Murasaki when she was here, it was her family's clan's to protect. At least that's the Japanese one. We never found the South American El Dorado, unfortunately.

How much is about 300 million beri worth?

I don't think I met Murasaki. [Though the name does sound familiar.] 300 million? Well... it was more than enough for a new ship, money left over to buy all the extras we wanted. And throw a huge party, apparently. [Much against her better wishes, that last one. Who the hell spends 100 million on a party?]

That must have been one hell of a party.

[So less than yen? Really, it's hard to judge. Especially the way Fujiko, Lupin & co. go through money like water.]

What kind of ship did you get?

A wonderful one. It's a brigantine sloop with a grass lawn deck and a huge kitchen and an aquarium and a deliciously huge bathtub. And it's made out of the most legendary wood known to man, so it'll keep up with us in the Grand Line no matter how many times Luffy tries to crash it into an iceberg.

Nice. I assume you at least try to avoid the icebergs? That is how the Titanic sunk, after all.

But I can see where that might run close to El Dorado prices. [Nods to herself.]

Trust me, I'm probably the only one on that ship that tries to sail it safely.

That's disconcerting. [Nami, Nami... never watch how Fujiko drives. She makes Luffy look very safety-conscientious when it comes to speedboats.]

And given that legendary wood you were talking about, it's gotta be expensive to repair I take it?

[She'll keep that in mind, should she ever realise that fact beyond brackets.]

Probably. But it hasn't taken a single dent yet. And given what we put it through, that's pretty strong wood.

Whoa, seriously? All right, then just make sure you straight through the icebergs, don't swerve; if the unthinkable should ever happen. The Grand Line is pretty tropical though, right?
