So I'm curious. How bizarre did some of your reminder cards get? Did anyone not take them all at face value?

I'm looking to take apart some of those kidnapping droids. For therapeutic purposes, if nothing else. Given they're generally built to take out even the toughest of villagers, I figured studying the remains might be pretty useful.

I had a thorough chance to study their schematics on recent mission and look inside myself. [And seriously. Getting inside of the droids? Seeing finally what made them tick? Very satisfying.] More power to you if you want to do it. The big question is: how are you planning to catch one?

A great deal of convoluted planning. Though before I get into that-- if you've had a look at their schematics, how much more could you learn from the real thing?

I got into the real thing. Garden variety, but droids nonetheless. That was the point of the mission. We were on a sabotage team. My particular assignment was to mess with the droids' internal structures to cause them to malfunction.

Maybe.] Because really, I just want to know what makes them so good they can take down any person in Luceti they choose, regardless of whether they're a god or not. I was assuming Shifting technology.

Hardly. To be perfectly honest, I don't think we could study those enough.

Their combat proficiency is derived from a highly advanced form of programming code. I wasn't assigned to it, but I picked up enough from the programmers who were. It's highly sophisticated, lengthy and extremely versatile, compacted in all the most logical ways. That's why the droids are so competent at reacting to different types of fighters. It's written in their brains to know how to reaction to anything imaginable.

[Definitely sounds like the pacifista, then. Though smaller. And faster. Which is disturbing.]

All right. [If there's no Shifting tech involved, then they probably aren't any good for her own further plans, but it's all Nami really has to go on now that Bil's lab has been destroyed. It could be useful to her in other ways, after all. Only one way to find out.] I'll see if I can get you some droid parts actually worth studying, then. It might take a bit, but at least I'll know where to bring them.

It's probably worth mentioning that there was Shifting tech present--just not in the code. In the composition of the droid itself. Right at its heart. Its battery. Minimal power continuously recycled forever. Completely unnatural.

Aside from that, they're shockingly simple. But I certainly wouldn't mind the chance to look at them more, if you're feeling so inclined.

I am feeling so inclined. I'm just a pirate. This kind of technology is beyond me, but acquiring it certainly isn't.

Droids that get sent into the village have a bad habit of being really ... efficient when it comes to cleaning up after any damages. I can put one down if I have the element of surprise, but taking advantage of that is another thing entirely.

The man's quick on his feet. It helps if he already knows who you are.

What did you have in mind?

[She counts points off on her fingers.] Hijack the kidnapping of a volunteer in the village. Hit the droids before they properly know we're there. The moment we manage to take even one out, remove it from the battle before it can be dealt with by the Malnosso. Scatter.

Heavy use of their own rewards system will help with the ambush and avoiding capture at the end. If I can make it work. It's not like we can really test this before we do it.

But the kidnappings are completely random. How are you planning on being there at the right time, in the right place?

Well, that really depends on the right kind of volunteer. Have you ever met Vash?

The guy has a bad track record with being kidnapped around here. But he manages to stave off the kidnapping for a fair while every time. Volunteers like that... [Not actually Vash, because Vash is an idiot who would probably cry over the destruction of the droids, really.] All we need is a few minutes.

I'm not saying my plan will work, but I'd give it fifty fifty. So on the chance that it does, I just want to cover all my bases.

Luckily for you, I like lower odds. Makes it more rewarding when I actually succeed. Which I always do.
