[Nami comes back to Luceti with a bang.

...literally. Because the first indication of her arrival on the networks is her journal hitting a tree at high velocity. The journal window won't pick up more than a whole bunch of dizzily swirling forest scenery and then a bare, reddened foot as she kicks it afterwards for good measure. Then she just abandons it in the grass and stalks off. Incredibly useful contribution to the journals, isn't it? Sorry about that.

She's not really in any hurry to go home, and in no hurry to go announcing herself through town, but she is cold. So after some indecision, she heads for the Avatar house instead, knocking hesitantly on the door in her New Feather dress in search of warmth and other things.

A little while later, having borrowed a coat and some shoes and feeling a little more herself, she heads for home, letting herself in quietly and... sort of standing there and listening for voices, noise, anything. Then she'll come say hi. Sort of.

Whether she stays there or not after that, who knows? But she does eventually make a journal entry in the evening, borrowing someone else's. She's not cruel enough to pretend she's not here when there are friends in town.]

[Voice]

Shirahoshi, are you still here? I remember you, now. Just thought I’d let you know.

For everyone else... hi. I'm back. Again. All that. Business as usual, I guess.

[She sounds cheerful enough. Just tired.]

[Chizuru's just grateful for the two she has, at least. She doesn't know what she'd do if she were alone here. Heisuke's departure practically gutted her.]

[There's a small pause. Nami would really rather none of them were still here. But that's a far heavier topic than she's willing to get in to.]

...guess so. At least I already have a room made up for me.

[The Shinsengumi have been keeping Chizuru very well sheltered from any of that, luckily.]

...with all the clothes you need, I take it?

[Though now Chizuru's curious.] What was it like? You were gone - where'd you go?

Hmm, I could do with a bit of shopping, actually. When you go home, your wardrobe tends to vanish and not return.

I went back to the sea. I'm a ship's navigator on a pirate crew back home.

Oh! [Chizuru's eyes lit up.] I've been on a ship before! They're huge!!

[...then, of course, the memory of burying Yamazaki at sea flashed in her mind. Her smile remained, but it hardened, and her eyes darkened for a fleeting moment before she blinked and cleared her throat.] But we were only on it for a short time. You sound like you're on them quite a bit, if you work on one...

That's right. We naturally live on a ship, though when we come to a new island we often go onshore for a week or two. It's ...a fun life. [She wonders at the brief flicker of emotion on Chizuru's face, but she's never actually met this girl. Nami files it away, another piece of knowledge for another time.] The life isn't for everyone, but when you can go anywhere and do anything...that kind of freedom appeals to me.

But it must be dangerous.

[How someone could find the appeal of a life filled with so much peril...but peace was something Chizuru yearned for, these days.]

It is. [Not gonna lie about that part.] But I have a good crew...

[Her smile wavers just a little.] We look after each other.

[That's a comfort, at least. The Shinsengumi were no different, in a way.]

So it's almost like your second family.

That's right. They're my friends and my crew... we'd go through hell for each other.
