[Nami's had quite enough of sleeping. It's kind of disconcerting to be told it's now September, and it doesn't help that she's spent the time since Ling's rude wake-up call still sleeping most of her day away. So tired, all the time. Prone to falling asleep mid-shower, and that is annoying, to say the least.

Oh, well. A week has gone past and she can finally get through most of the day with no problems, so Nami takes advantage of the fact that there is no Chopper to tell her otherwise (and no Katara or Law at the house at the time) to sneak up to the orchard and see how it's fared in her near-two-month absence.

...huh. Been hot lately, she sees. And a lot less mikan up here than she was expecting. Nothing too alarming, and the place seems okay otherwise, pinwheels and all. Someone even fixed her cottage door, lookit that.

Welp. Observant villagers might see the low-lying rainclouds to the northeast of the village, a tiny little storm that barely covers an acre. It's too hot today anyway, may as well take advantage of the fact that she can cheat.]

[Voice]

Thanks, whoever fixed my door. Did you take some of the fruit as payment or should I blame someone else for that?

[Tell her what she's missed, Luceti.]

Ahh, must have missed him. Sounds a lot like Artoo, honestly.

[Luke switches over to video and beside him Nami can see R2-D2 in all his droid-glory]

Actually, hes a droid named R2-D2. Artoo for short.

Oh, absolutely. They're a necessary part of Galactic society.

[He shrugs]

Don't worry, he's nothing like the Malnosso's droids. Artoo is a navigator droid. [Beep bloop bleep!]

Well, he's a computer, really. He has star charts and maps of every known hyperspace route in the Galaxy stored in him. He's also a mechanic, but Astromech droids like Artoo are plugged into navicomputers of starfighters and other small ships so they can save space.

Also, droids are machines with personality, and you should understand that Artoo has saved my life more than once, and I regard him as a member of my immediate family.

Yea...those things...

[Those things freak him out.]

Yea. It really is. From the sounds of it, your world is a lot like my galaxy before we completely mapped it.

Ah, right. A galaxy is the largest single unit of measuring stars. We live on a planet. Planets orbit a sun, within a solar system, or system for short. Systems belong to clusters, large groups of solar systems. And clusters make up a galaxy. The sheer size of a galaxy is nearly impossible to describe with numbers, though.

D'you got that?

Exactly!

A galaxy is like an ocean in the stars, yes. Think of a cluster like a sea, a Solar System like an archipelago, and a planet like an island. Does that help?

Thats right. The big difference is that space is a vacuum. There is no air. So you have to wear protective suits and your ship needs to be secure everywhere.

Yes, something like that. Its a lot colder in space though, and sound doesn't carry out in the vacuum. Not that you'd survive more than a few seconds.

[OK, morbid but...]

At the same time, its still very beautiful.

Maybe you'll get the chance here. Its definitely an experience, the first time you do it.

[A clock chimes in the background, indicating that this thread has hit the slippery slope of infinite banter...]

Well hey, I've gotta get to my shift at the Clinic, so I'll see you around then.

[Luke waves at the camera]

May the Force be with you, Nami.
