[Nami's had quite enough of sleeping. It's kind of disconcerting to be told it's now September, and it doesn't help that she's spent the time since Ling's rude wake-up call still sleeping most of her day away. So tired, all the time. Prone to falling asleep mid-shower, and that is annoying, to say the least.

Oh, well. A week has gone past and she can finally get through most of the day with no problems, so Nami takes advantage of the fact that there is no Chopper to tell her otherwise (and no Katara or Law at the house at the time) to sneak up to the orchard and see how it's fared in her near-two-month absence.

...huh. Been hot lately, she sees. And a lot less mikan up here than she was expecting. Nothing too alarming, and the place seems okay otherwise, pinwheels and all. Someone even fixed her cottage door, lookit that.

Welp. Observant villagers might see the low-lying rainclouds to the northeast of the village, a tiny little storm that barely covers an acre. It's too hot today anyway, may as well take advantage of the fact that she can cheat.]

Thanks, whoever fixed my door. Did you take some of the fruit as payment or should I blame someone else for that?

Good idea! [Nami crosses to the cupboard just inside the first bedroom, tugging out a towel and offering it to Florian.] Here you go, dry off. I'll make you a slushie.

Oh, thanks! [Wipin' his face, pattin' at his clothes, vaguely unwettening his hair...] What's a slushie? [That is a new word for him!]

It's like flavoured ice that's been crushed down into a drink form. It's really nice in summer.

Ohhh...that sounds good. The summer's really hot, so ice would be nice!

Don't drink it too fast, though. You'll give yourself a headache. [She moves for the icebox in the kitchen.] So...how long have you been in Luceti?

I will? [how do drinks cause headaches...] Um, I've been here....four months? [Six.]

Yeah, because it's really, really cold. It'll give you one right up here. [She taps just above her nose. Can't help but noticing she's talking to him like a small child. Hnn. Something about you, Florian.] Four months is enough to get used to the place, I guess. Hopefully you haven't run into too much trouble.

[That tap? He's mimicking it, attempting to stare at his own face as he does so. This totally isn't childish at all.] I didn't know cold could make your head hurt...I haven't been in any trouble at all though. I'm really good at that. [Whether this is true or not is irrelevant.]

Well, that's good. This place can be rough for people sometimes. [She pulls out two glasses and begins crunching the ice down.] Cold things can make your head hurt if you eat it too quickly, because it doesn't get time to warm up enough and your body doesn't like it. Just like if you eat hot things too fast, your chest feels like it's burning.

Oh, I've done that before! But hot things taste really good, even if they burn a little. [Watching her crunch that ice.] I haven't tried it with cold stuff yet though.

[Snicker.] I wouldn't start now.

[And voila. Two mikan slushies. She puts one down on the table for him.] There you go. Tell me what you think.

[Ooohh slushies. He happily grabs his, starts attempting to gulp it down--oh wait no she said to drink slowly. Okay.

Good! That's mikan flavour, though a bit diluted. You wanna try the real thing?

[She's having one for herself anyawy, plucking a mikan from the basket by the window and peeling it with deft fingers.]

Yeah, I want to try! I can have mikan with my mikan and everything will taste like mikan.

[He's not sure whether that made sense or not but the word is fun to say, honestly. Also, it's hard to keep sipping when you want to gulp the whole thing down, but he's trying his best.]

[P-pfft. A boy after her own heart, seriously. She likes him.] Eat too many and your skin will turn orange.

...It will? [wow the idea of having orange skin is...pretty weird. staring at his arms now.]

[Now she's laughing again.] Over a long time! You're fine, you're fine.

Oh. Okay! [He perks up fast!]

[...oh my god how old are you? Nami blinks at him for a second, then shakes her head and puts her mikan aside, palming another one out of the basket on the counter.]

Here you go. You just need to peel the skin off, but that's easy enough. It's pretty loose. [She puts it down gently on the table in front of him.]

[He's a three-year-old in a 15-year-old body, now currently concentrating very hard on the process of peeling this mikan.

It's not too hard, really, but all the same after peeling a little bit he stops and asks] Can you eat the skin too?

You can, but it's not very tasty. Need help?
